Teaching Improvement Program - PAE
What is it?
The Teaching Improvement Program aims to enhance the postgraduate student’s training for undergraduate teaching activities.
This program is regulated by Ordinance GR 3588, dated May 10, 2005, and is exclusively intended for postgraduate students enrolled at the University of São Paulo in master’s and doctoral courses.
It consists of two stages:
Pedagogical Preparation
The Pedagogical Preparation stage varies according to how each Teaching Unit structures it and may be found in three modalities:
- A postgraduate discipline offering credits, with content focused on university and higher education issues;
- A series of lectures, with education specialists, condensed into a shorter time frame, covering higher education topics;
- A set of activities, involving the preparation of teaching materials, curriculum discussions, syllabus planning, and course structuring, coordinated by professors.
FORP/USP offers postgraduate courses every semester that correspond to the Pedagogical Preparation stage, such as:
- Methodologies and Dynamics of Teaching in Dentistry (8035743)
- Didactics for the Dentistry Course (8035745)
Offerings can be consulted through the Janus System: https://uspdigital.usp.br/janus/componente/disciplinasOferecidasInicial.jsf
Supervised Teaching Internship
The Supervised Teaching Internship stage is conducted in undergraduate courses, and interested students must enroll in the Teaching Unit of their relevant field. Upon completion of the internship and formal requirements, participants with satisfactory performance receive a certificate and, at the discretion of the Postgraduate Committee, may earn credits for the activity.
The program is optional for postgraduate students at the university, except for those with CAPES Social Demand Scholarships, whose regulations require the completion of an internship.
